Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British American musician and sitarist, is most well-known for her music. She was the youngest and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982 and spent her early years shuttling back and forth to London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Her career as a musician and performer is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. She has performed with her father in the stage for a long time. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Her stage career is very vast as she has appeared in all of the world's major venues.
