Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British American musician and sitarist, is most well-known for her music. She was the youngest and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982 and spent her early years shuttling back and forth to London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Her career as a musician and performer is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. She has performed with her father in the stage for a long time. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Her stage career is very vast as she has appeared in all of the world's major venues. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond the realm of music. She also published Bapi The Love of My Life in the year 2002. This is a picture biographical work that is a tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in films in 2003 she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she is the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shakar's career as a professional will continue to grow and develop. We can look for exciting interesting things coming from her. Anoushka Shakar, born in England lived the majority of her time between London Delhi. After moving to California she finished her high school. Anoushka started her music studies at the age of nine. After four years she performed her sitar debut in Delhi for her father's 70th birthday celebration. Anoushka was able to gain numerous valuable experience as she traveled with her father during his worldwide tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival in addition to making recordings alongside George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was awarded an award from the British Parliament in recognition of being the most renowned Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and is the smallest recipient of this distinction.
